The Career Transition Center, located in the Office of State Personnel’s Temporary Solutions offices at 620 North West Street in Raleigh, is open to provide transitional services to employees who are reduced in force in State Government. Our mission at the Center is to provide quality services in a timely manner to employees directly affected by State Government downsizing. The programs and services offered address a wide array of issues associated with reduction in force ( RIF) including job search for state government jobs as well as outplacement assistance.
The Career Transition Center provides a professional,
supportive atmosphere for employees involved in job search, including office support assistance and access to a copier, fax machine, the internet, and long distance telephone service. Small group discussions on contemporary job search methods, one-on-one counseling sessions for resume and application development/update, and various support group meetings dealing with the daily anger and frustration experienced by RIF employees, are held at the Center. Staff at the Center will work with employees to identify suitable job openings in North Carolina State Government as well as the private sector. Staff will also assist employees with application and/or resume preparation and update. Computers will be available to allow employees to access the Internet for job search and to complete/update applications and/or resumes.
A two day workshop is being offered to employees who have been notified of separation by reduction in force. This workshop is designed to discuss contemporary job search methods, the services offered to RIF employees who are member of the State Employees’ Credit Union, and information from the Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Services pertaining to retraining assistance funds and information on starting your own business. Staff from the Employment Security Commission will provide attendees with detailed information regarding Unemployment Insurance.
